The Education Secretary Damian Hinds has announced a £38 million capital funding boost for schools and colleges in the first wave of T-levels.

£38 million is being made available to the first providers of T Levels to make sure pupils taking the new technical qualifications from 2020 have access to the equipment and facilities they need.

Apprenticeships

The government has committed to introducing all new apprenticeship standards in time for August 2020, rather than “by 2020” as previously stated.

Plans to stop funding old apprenticeship frameworks and ensure providers were only delivering new Trailblazer standards were first announced in October 2013, with the frameworks initially planned to end in 2017/18.

Employers will be able to post scores and reviews of their apprenticeship provider in an online review tool similar to Trip Advisor, according to the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

The ‘what are employers saying’ service will invite employers who have registered apprentices on the apprenticeship service to feedback on specific aspects of their programmes, with the first beta version of the feature specifically focusing on training providers.

Dear members,

Thank you to those of you that completed the feedback survey regarding last week’s conference. As always, your feedback was has given us much to think about for the next 12 months!

This year, we reverted back to the National, Local, Quality and Industry speaker format for the conference and delivered a strong line-up able to talk confidently around their particular subject areas.

We changed the venue this year to the Proact stadium in Chesterfield, which was again scored highly on location, facilities and most importantly the catering!
