The multi-award winning Chameleon School of Construction are celebrating another accolade after winning the Inclusion category at the 2017 Derbyshire Times Business Awards on Thursday 9 November.

Following on from the presentation Maureen Deary delivered at our annual conference, one of the most requested courses we have been asked to provide for our members is Ofsted nominee training.

With the news that Ofsted are now looking to potentially inspect sub-contractors directly, we have secured the services of an ex-Ofsted lead inspector, Peter Stacey to come and deliver this training at The Derbyshire Network.

The skills minister has appeared to agree that Ofsted should inspect subcontractors during an exchange at education questions in the House of Commons earlier this week. Anne Milton seemed to echo the beliefs of her predecessor Robert Halfon when he asked her about subcontracting in Parliament.

Mr Halfon, now the chair of the influential education select committee asked, “Does my honourable friend not agree that Ofsted should inspect subcontractors and will she review the extent of subcontracting and ensure that all apprentices receive the quality training they deserve?”

The Department for Education have recently launched the new Flexible Learning Fund which will make up to £10 million available to help providers to developing new ways to support adults to progress or retrain. The Derbyshire network would like to look at the possibility of submitting a collaborative submission and welcomes any suggestions and ideas.

This is part of a £40 million package aimed at piloting new approaches to lifelong learning which were announced in last year’s spring budget

TDN Chief Executive Michelle Celebrated her 1 year at The Derbyshire network work anniversary by attending the AELP Autumn Conference in Manchester on the 1st November.

The Conference was split into the following sections:
