Apprenticeships

Apprenticeship starts were down a massive 40 per cent in February on the same period in 2017, the latest provisional government statistics have revealed.

There were 21,800 starts reported for the month, compared with February 2017’s provisional total of 36,400, according to the Education and Skills Funding Agency’s monthly apprenticeship statistics update, published last week.

This represents this biggest year-on-year percentage drop since last August.

Derbyshire County Council has launched its’ Action Grants scheme aimed at local groups, clubs, charities and other non-profit organisations working in communities across the county.

Council leader, Councillor Barry Lewis, said:

“Over the next two years there will be 2,000 grants of up to £500 on offer to help groups fund projects and events which will benefit their local communities.

“Whether it is to organise a village fete, pay for a youth club activity or to help promote exercise and sport, we’re inviting people who are active in their community to apply.

This course counts towards your CPD record and is aimed at Designated Safeguarding Leads, Managers and Tutors looking to update or refresh their Safeguarding knowledge.

The course will run from 10:00am until 3:00pm, includes lunch and will cover the following areas:
