To save you all the task of reviewing the previous and new versions of the Inspection Handbook, the team at Mesma have kindly reviewed the December 2017 update of the revised Ofsted further education and skills inspection handbook to be used from 2nd January 2018.

Other than the inclusion emphasising that ‘inspectors usually inspect and report careers guidance’, reference to the ‘Technical and Further Education Act 2017’ and a few re-numbered changes there appears to be no further changes. A summary of the changes are below:

This past year has been extremely challenging for our sector mainly due to the changes brought about with changes to the funding rules, the introduction of the Levy, move from Apprenticeship Frameworks to Standards, and let’s not forget the tendering process we have all had to endure!

Delivered by ex-Ofsted lead inspector, Peter Stacey, the day will be split in to three sections:

The Level 2 Health and Safety qualification is designed to provide your staff with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace.

Learners will achieve the necessary understanding of the responsibilities and employers and employees, the benefits of good health and safety, steps to a risk assessment, common causes of and how to reduce accidents, near misses and ill-health, typical hazards and controls in the workplace, emergency procedures and the importance of recording accidents, near misses and ill-health occurrences.
