Meet our Board

Sarah Temperton

Sarah has been a part of the Training Team at DNLCC now trading as EMC (Derbyshire Nottinghamshire Leicestershire) for over 28 years now and has seen many changes not only with her own organisation, who as you can see is now trading as EMC (Derbyshire Nottinghamshire Leicestershire) but with the skills arena in general.  Her current role is Head of Training within the Commercial Services.

The Training and skills delivery supports young people and adults in their skills development both in and out of employment.  They also deliver a large Work Programme across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Sarah is a member of the EMC overall Management team who meet and discuss the direction of travel for EMC (Derbyshire Nottinghamshire Leicestershire).

Mark Homer

Mark Homer was appointed as the Head of the Derbyshire Adult Community Education Service in March 2012, leading the service to a Good rating in its most recent Ofsted inspection. 

The service operates out of 23 main centres, delivering a combination of community and qualification based learning. It also has bespoke, responsive teams focused on work-based and family learning. 

Prior to this, he was Assistant Director for Culture and Adult Education at Lincolnshire County Council for 10 years.  Mark is also a qualified tutor and currently teaches Level 4 and 5 diploma programmes in Therapeutic Counselling in Lincoln.

Lawrence Thirlaway

Teacher trained graduate with a long and successful career as a teacher and manager in schools and FE colleges - including significant experience in Adult Education and HE. Second career in private training organisations managing large Welfare to Work contracts from DWP/Jobcentre Plus and SFA. Now director of management consultancy.
